Inside River Point Villa, a Tropical Sanctuary in Bali
Overview
Set in the heart of Canggu, River Point Villa enjoys one of Bali’s most vibrant and sought-after locations. Set around a striking blue lagoon pool and surrounded by lush tropical landscape, the home has been designed to feel inseparable from its setting. As host Tim remarks, “You’re centred around this blue lagoon, your own private tropical paradise that embodies everything Bali’s about.” The villa unfolds as a sanctuary where contemporary design, tropical landscapes and Balinese character come together to create a deeply immersive living experience.

Designed to Embrace Bali’s Natural Beauty
From the moment you step inside, the villa reveals its strongest design principle: an effortless connection to the surrounding landscape. A soaring open-plan living space is framed by an enormous glass wall, allowing uninterrupted views across lush gardens and the lagoon beyond. The architects envisioned a home where the landscape becomes part of the living experience, with every room opening towards the surrounding tropical scenery, as Tim explains, “you feel like the actual building is part of the landscape.” Vaulted ceilings elevate the openness of the interior, while every seating area remains visually connected to the tropical surroundings.
Local Craftsmanship
The villa celebrates Balinese craftsmanship through its carefully selected materials and locally made details. Roman porcelain flooring, textured microcement walls and warm teak timber are carried throughout the interiors, while reclaimed ulin wood and locally sourced stone highlight the home’s connection to the island. Interior colours echo the surrounding bamboo, palms and tropical foliage, while artwork by Indonesian artist Adi Chandra reflects Balinese rituals and traditions. As Tim observes, “Everything feels very comfortable, very familiar. It all feels, for want of a better word, local.”
Spaces for Living and Entertaining
The expansive living, dining and kitchen spaces flow effortlessly together while maintaining their own distinct identities. A sculptural solid timber dining table carved from a single slab sits beneath bespoke lighting, and the kitchen combines premium appliances with durable finishes designed for everyday use and large gatherings alike. Sliding glass doors open completely onto the outdoor entertaining areas, creating what Tim imagines as the perfect setting for celebrations: “Imagine if this was your entertaining space. I could imagine DJs, a band, a barbecue and hundreds of people having a great time.”
The Blue Lagoon at the Centre
At the heart of the property sits its most memorable feature: the expansive blue lagoon pool. With its gently sloping beach-style entrance, generous proportions and backdrop of mature tropical planting, feels like a boutique resort. Beyond the water, a nearby temple gives the villa a peaceful ambiance, while carefully preserved landscaping creates remarkable privacy despite the central Canggu location. For Tim, this is what makes the property exceptional: “To be able to get something of this size, this scale and this opulence here in the centre, but still feel so peaceful is quite special.”
Private Suites Surrounded by Nature
Five ensuite bedrooms continue the villa’s emphasis on tranquillity, each with its own private terrace and generous connection to the outdoors. Sliding glass doors, natural ventilation and a mix of textures create restful spaces inspired by Balinese ideas of quiet reflection. Tim notes that the designers wanted every bedroom to feel like a personal sanctuary, adding, “They wanted people to feel like they had that time to themselves.”
Spacious bathrooms, twin vanities, walk-in showers and abundant storage make each suite equally suited to long-term living or luxury hospitality.
A Primary Suite with Its Own Sanctuary
Occupying the upper level beneath the dramatic pitched roof, the primary suite offers a feel of complete privacy. High ceilings, sculptural timber detailing and its own secluded terrace create a grand and deeply relaxing vibe.
A second private outdoor space extends the bedroom into the landscape, while the spa-inspired ensuite features a freestanding bath, bronze fixtures and views towards an intimate internal garden. As Tim puts it simply, “This master suite really does deliver.”
Inspired by Balinese Tradition
Beyond its architecture, River Point Villa embraces the traditions of the island itself. Before completion, the property underwent the Melaspas ceremony, an important Balinese blessing that cleanses and blesses a newly built or renovated building towards a new beginning. Throughout the home, nearby temples remain part of the view, and local materials, art and craftsmanship celebrate the island’s identity. Luxury is only part of the story. The villa offers a deep connection to Bali’s landscape and traditions.
